Practiva feels your pain

A new San Antonio medical company has opened the first Practiva Health Center in the South Texas Medical Center.
Practiva Health was founded by former Benefit Planners Inc. (now Fiserv Health and soon to be part of UnitedHealth) folks with the aim of helping control chronic pain and chronic disease with a combination of wellness programs and education.

The team will design workplace wellness prgrams and work to bring down employer and employee insurance costs.

"Many Practiva patients have been suffering for a long time and no one has given them the tools they need to effectively manage their chronic pain or dissease," said Gijs van Oort, a founder of Practiva and head of operations.

Medical Director Dr. Gilbert Meadows said "to be able to teach our patients how to effectively manage pain and illnesses, like diabetes, and hold them accountable to the life-changing skills they are given, puts health care back into their hands."
